Hybrid interfaces: Drawing and code
Applications & info: until Tuesday, 3 May via delavnica@ljudmila.org (Tine)
No prior knowledge required. The workshop is free of charge. Bring your own laptop, headphones and webcam.
Olivia Jack's workshop is an introduction to using live drawing as a part of a live-coded program. "Fubbles" (function scribbles) is a hybrid code and graphics editor developed by Olivia during her on-the-fly research residency. Dragging the mouse or a finger in a drawing generates a sequence of X and Y values in time. These values are looped to create a repeating pattern, and assigned to a variable which can be used to control parameters in live coding visuals or music. Multiple scribble functions can be updated live, creating a flexible gestural control interface to a live-coded program.
During the workshop, we will explore methods for using fubbles in combination with browser-based live coding environments, as well as sending MIDI and OSC messages to other music and visual applications.
